Time to save prevailing wage law – contact your lawmaker

Date Posted: March 8 2013

A call, e-mail or letter to your Michigan House or Senate lawmaker – or Gov. Rick Snyder – is one of the few tools in our toolbox that we can use to try to stop the proposed repeal of Michigan Prevailing Wage Act of 1965.

Please urge your legislator NOT to support:

  • House Bill 4172/Senate Bill 0157, which would repeal the Michigan Prevailing Wage Act.
  • House Bill 4174/Senate Bill 0159, which eliminates references to prevailing wage in school construction.
  • House Bill 4173/Senate Bill 0158, which eliminates references to prevailing wage in the Economic Development Corporations Act.

To contact state lawmakers, go online to www.michigan.gov, and scroll to the bottom of the page. Under “Contacts” there are links for easy ways to find your state House representative or state senator. There’s a direct line to Gov. Rick Snyder’s office. (517) 373-3400. His other contact information is under www. michigan.gov/snyder.

Not computer literate? Ask a family member or friend to go online and look up your lawmaker’s phone number or address. Or call your city or township’s clerk’s office.
